Like other Dye courses, P.B. Dye Golf Club features railroad ties, pot bunkers, and an island green on the par-3 11th hole. P.B. Dye Golf Club is the only course in Maryland to feature Penn G-2 bent grass greens. One of the newer seed varieties, G-2 is also used at the Pinehurst No. 2 course.
The members all brought their own food in baskets for picnics. Long picnic tables in the yard were used. Little by little the cottage was improved and the club house was built. Mrs. Dye remembers that one tournament was won by George McCrery and the first prize was a watermelon. Small boxes of sand were found on each tee.
